A Walk Out In Nature

We try to balance our relaxed lifestyle by getting out in nature to walk at least once a week. We are still building up strength after a few series of chemo and radical surgery so our jaunts are still rather short. Sometimes we just go out behind the house and walk on the neighbor’s property.

Cheraw State Park in South Carolina is a pleasant place to visit. We have been walking there a couple of times.

The site of the old Landsford Canal is an interesting place to walk.

One of our favorite places to go is 40 Acre Rock.

Lately we have been frequenting the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge not very far from home. That’s where we went walking today. We were curious to see the Gaddy Covered Bridge. It was a serene spot.

Anywhere we go walking I always keep an eye out for papaw trees. We saw many of them today but only saw one that had young developing fruit on it.

Parts of our walk took us by an overgrown beaver pond and open cultivated land within the preserve. We didn’t see another person the entire time we were out there today. Nice.

I love the health app on my iPhone. It records the number of steps taken and the distance walked. Our short walk today was 4,131 steps and 1.6 miles.
