I choose to eat a lot of whole natural foods and keep processed packaged foods to a minimum. But I don’t think of “processed food” as always being a bad thing. Cooking from scratch is itself the act processing food. It doesn’t necessarily make a lot of difference to me if I do the processing or if someone else has done it for me, especially when the food which comes out of a can or a package has been processed using exactly the same ingredients I would were I to do it myself.
I took advantage of the convenience of packaged foods when I made breakfast this morning. No, I am not promoting these brands/products, except maybe the pickled jalapeños which I processed and packaged myself earlier this week.
I seasoned the refried beans with cumin, chili powder and coriander powder.
The pizzas, with refried beans, ranchera sauce and pickled jalapeños, were baked for seven minutes at 425ºF. Then I slid on the sunny side up eggs (whites not quite done), poured on a little more ranchera sauce, sprinkled a little Le Gruyère® and popped them back into the oven for a few more minutes.
