A few of months ago in early spring we noticed a small structure being built just a short distance from the house on a country road we often travel. We passed that way every week or so, and as construction progressed it looked more and more like it was going to be a produce stand. We certainly hoped so!
Summer came around, and when we recently passed that way again a produce stand had indeed opened for business. At the first opportunity we turned the car around and went back to be cordially greeted by a 25 year U. S. Marine Corps veteran (retired) and his young grandchildren. We couldn’t be more pleased that just 2 1/2 miles from the house we can procure fresh country eggs, fresh vegetables, fruit and more.
We sometimes purchase a mix of “Easter eggs.” Of course, like people, all eggs are the same regardless of color. A returned egg carton earns a discount on the next purchase.
Inside the building are freezers stocked with home grown grass fed beef, pork, sausages etc.
The structure on the right in front of the main building is a walk-in refrigerator which contains much more of the items out on display. When we arrived on this day he had just opened and was still setting up.
Speaking of eggs, the other morning we enjoyed poached eggs and yellow grits.
Breakfast this morning also featured eggs: with spinach, feta, onion and minced jalapeño.
